DJ Die (born Daniel Kausman,[1] 1972 in Devon), is a British music producer and DJ. He was a founder of drum and bass label Full Cycle Recordings[2] and a member of acts Reprazent (1997 Mercury Prize winners) and Breakbeat Era.

Kausman was born and spent his formative years in Devon, UK, before moving to Bristol in 1985 as a teenager. An early interest in house and hardcore lead to a musical partnership with friend Jody Wisternoff (who later formed Way Out West with Nick Warren). Recording together under the aliases of Tru Funk and Sub Love on Three Stripe Records, they created hardcore staples like 4am and made numerous DJing appearances at early Universe raves.

The partnership was a brief one however, and Die began to diversify his output, drawing on his enduring hip hop influences. He had already encountered Krust and Suv, who were regular visitors to Universe, but it was a chance meeting with Roni Size at Bristol’s Replay Records store in 1992 which would lead to their first collaboration in the form of Agility for V Recordings and Die’s ongoing contributions to the Full Cycle Recordings catalogue.

Together with Roni, he originated the seminal Music Box which was to become the title track of the debut Full Cycle compilation in 1996. Solo efforts like Landslide and Jittabug would help carve out a niche for Die, who became known for his ability to fuse the jazz with the breaks to create devastating, seismic floor shakers.

Emerging firstly as a core member of Reprazent and later in 1998, as one third of Breakbeat Era (a project spawned by the Music Box track of the same name), he was thrust into the limelight and soon found himself remixing the likes of DJ Shadow, Towa Tei and DJ Cam.

His Gnarly remix of Reprazent single Watching Windows became a classic and was released in its own right by Talkin’ Loud. He has his own label called “Clear Skyz”.

Bangkok Bed The 9 Year Anniversary Party

“The Invasion of the Space Pirates”
Sunday October 9th 2011.

Price of entry: 1000 baht / 1 drink (the one drink will be Grey Goose Vodka)

The best dressed and the best pictures captured from the parties will be rewarded with prizes from our sponsors.

Bed Supperclub is celebrating its 9th anniversary with a science-fiction theme; turning the building into a spaceship. A one night only event set on Sunday October 9th 2011.

Here’s the scenario that leads to the party theme: A renegade crew of space pirates have infiltrated and hijacked the Bed Supperclub ship to plunder our precious commodity: Grey Goose vodka.

Armed with their treasured loot, they have taken control, recruiting prisoners into their crew and preparing for a major party to celebrate their conquest.

The interior of Bed Supperclub has turned into a cargo bay where the priceless booty and the prisoners are kept under close guard.
Meanwhile, intoxicated with joy from their successful raid, these ruthless space pirates have let their guards down. And while they are docked in Soi 11, in preparation for the yearlong trip into space, word has escaped that a huge party is under way on October 9th.
The idea of the party is to stage a secret mission to save the prisoners and reclaim the Bed Supperclub ship.

In order to spy on the space pirates’ activities, guests have been asked to infiltrate the venue, disguised as white bohemians, and report the situation to the social media. The space pirates won’t think anything of it because of the constant trading and interaction with gypsies.

The best dressed and the best pictures captured from the parties will be rewarded with prizes from our sponsors.

As for each anniversary, Bed Supperclub resident DJ’s are lined-up in the restaurant’s side to bring down an atmosphere of lawlessness and chaos that will gradually get crazier as the night unfolds. On the bar side, longtime Bed favorites DJ Octo and DJ Knatz will lock down the dark room and infuse their own signature mixes of revelry.

Full bio:

There is an air of mystery shrouding the true meaning behind the acronym of M.A.N.D.Y., an alias which embodies the mutual talents of childhood friends Philipp Jung and Patrick Bodmer. The pair readily indulge this curiosity by toying with various clever possibilities, including Me AND You, but the truth is likely a giggle under each of their talented breaths. P and P have carved a unique niche in electronic music by consistently selecting productions that induce their audience into a somatic frenzy. On the platform of their aptly titled Get Physical label, M.A.N.D.Y. has achieved massive success in colluding to create music that simply makes bodies move. Their foot stamping, hair flying passion is the ultimate expression of a dance music phenomenon for many years.

When M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade joined as musical soul mates with DJ T., first in Frankfurt, then in Berlin, Get Physical produced a caliber of electricity that rippled throughout the EDM community and into the relative mainstream. Philipp’s charm and savvy, Patrick’s allusive artistry, DJ T.’s killer entrepreneurial sense and Booka Shade’s collaborative genius combined to form a masterpiece of intelligent design that reflects romantic sensibility and technical virtuosity. Together, they push the boundaries of dance music to compile an enviable arsenal of electro kissing house while caressing disco and flirting with techno. Body Language was the ubiquitous hit of 2005 and M.A.N.D.Y.’s Fabric Series three years later cemented their reputation as two of the most captivating selectors on the planet. One of their most recent prestige was a complication for Renaissance in 2009 which was met with tremendous accolades and described by Resident Advisor as “maturity, smarts, and cohesion…that is rare these days.”

Philipp and Patrick know exactly which buttons to press to make that bass jiggle up your spine and seduce your body free. Alongside many lives compadres Booka Shade, M.A.N.D.Y. has taken some time from their hectic global tour schedule to devise new elaborations, culminating in the release of Body Language Vol. 10 in April 2011. In addition to a single release that will be the first Booka Shade vs. M.A.N.D.Y. cooperation to be heard in years, the boys have closed on a revolutionary touring show that utilizes infrared technology and a new mapping technique to project inverted video effects onto their Physical form as they perform. It is no doubt that their plans for this never before seen live visual component will conjure the kind of visceral excitement that only this duo can. In the feat of the imagination, M.A.N.D.Y. powers on through a perpetual rebirth into pulsating beats and pretty lights.
