Samui Gecko Pool Party

With a legacy stretching back twelve years, Gecko Samui has always been at the forefront of SE Asias dance music scene. During their ten year tenure on the beach in Bophut and subsequent two years perched high on the jungle covered mountainside of Bohput Hills the venue, driven by owners (and hosts with the most) Gary and wife Noi, has hosted some of the most infamous, indeed legendary parties that the world has ever known and have had more of dance musics most revered luminaries grace the decks there than most venues or promoters could ever dream of!

Over the years Gecko has played host to the likes of Clive Henry (DC10), Jo Mills (Space), Danny Rampling (The dj without whom we would probably have never heard house music), Smokin’ Jo, Rob Roar, Jamie Jones, Graeme Park (Hacienda, Manchester) and most recently a visit by “The Godfather of House” himself, Marshall Jefferson, the Chicago born producer of “Move Your Body”, widely regarded as the first House music record ever released……The list is, quite literally endless and when you add to this the hookups Gecko have had with international clubbing brands such as Ministry of Sound, Bora Bora and Back to Basics the full picture becomes glaringly obvious…Gecko really is something quite unique and special!

Following a devastating fire in October 2009 that razed the first Bophut Hills venue to the ground, destroyed Garys vast vinyl collection, computers, recording equipment and everything else he, Noi and their family possessed and from which they were lucky to escape with their lives, they decided against all odds to rebuild Gecko and, like a phoenix rising from the ashes the next reincarnation came to be, completed, from the ruins in an astounding six weeks reopening on NYE 2009/10. In the interim period Gecko has remained relatively dormant on the most part as the family have struggled to rebuild their lives, but now all that is set to change….

On Saturday 20th August 2011 Gecko returns to the fore with what will be the first of a new era of Gecko events; our new weekly pool parties.

Starting at 2pm and running through until midnight, Gecko will provide you with the perfect place to wind down from the night before or gear up for the night ahead….

Chilled beats and deep, groovy house music will be laid down by resident djs: Bosso (Fusion, Lamai), Electrom (Gecko, Samui/Kangaroo Bar, Koh Phangan) and T (Gecko, Samui) who will be joined in the booth by visiting international artists on a monthly basis.

Couple the best selection of tunes that house music has to offer, played by djs who have real passion for their craft (something sadly lacking in many venues around the globe these days) with the spectacular setting, views and ambiance that Gecko has to offer, an infinity pool, Noi’s home cooked Thai food, reasonably priced drinks and a relaxed vibe that is second to none then you are faced with a very simple choice to make…DO I WANT TO MISS OUT ON ALL OF THIS???? (And yes, of course “NO” is the correct answer)!

Entry is absolutely FREE, happy hour runs from 2pm-6pm and we are providing free transport to Gecko from Chaweng (Pick-ups @ 1.30pm/3.00pm/4.30pm and 6.00pm outside SOLO BAR on Chaweng beach road) for those of you without transport. If you have a motorbike or other vehicle and wish to make your own way to Gecko there is a map on the reverse of the flyer (or on the Facebook event page/attached to this mail) showing directions to the venue and a brand new concrete road running all the way from the main road up the mountain and signposts to guide you.
